Sidhabari
Sidhabari is Located at the foothills of the majestic Dhauladhar ranges of the Himalayas in the lovely Kangra Valley. On one side is the abode of Goddess Nagarkot and on the other side her other manifestation Chamundi Devi. From time immemorial, Sidhabari has been an abode of sages and saints. There is a reference to it even in Sreemad Bhagavat. Swami Chinmayanandaji had founded the academy of knowledge, named after Rishi Sandeepany, the Guru of Lord Krishna here at Sidhabari. Set under the tradition of Guru-Shishya relation Sandeepany conducts vedanta courses, camps etc.,

While Sandeepany was coming up in the scenic beauty of Sidhabari, Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji thought of building a Rama Mandir for the Pahadi people of Sidhabari. But the wind velocity here was very heavy and the wind use to blow with all fury. It was told then by the local people that the wind was so strong in Sidhabari that it would not allow any tree to grow there. Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji then said "We will instal Pavanaputra Hanuman here in a Digambara temple. His grace will not only mellow the Wind-God and allow the trees to grow in the ashram but will also enable us to crystallize the Sankalpa of having a Rama Mandir for the Pahadi people."

Thus the Pavanaputra Hanuman in a Digambara temple had come up in Sidhabari. In the peaceful setting of Sandeepany, stands the twenty two feet high Idol of Hanumanji, the deity of health and strength, under the multi starred sky open to the embrace of his beloved father, Vayu the Wind God. The Idol of Pavanaputra Hanuman is placed on the pedestal having eight sides. There are eight verses inscribed around the pedestal, one on each side. The mastaka abhishekam (sacred anointment), to the deity was conducted on 10th of October 1982 to purify the idol from impurities accumulated during the making stage.

It is a wonderful sight to see that the Ashram is fully surrounded by trees and woods with the grace of Pavanaputra Hanuman, as rightly predicted by Pujya Gurudev Swamiji. It is also worthy to note that the ashram is Swami Chinmayananda’s final resting place.
