Opera in Hindi

Opera in Hindi on MandrakelinuxOpera is known as Fastest Browser on Earth.
There are many features which set it apart and unique in comparison to other browsers. Some of the its features are:

It has got in-built e-mail, news and chat clients.
It allows to visit multiple Web sites at once.
It has got facility to store the Mouse gestures.
It has got Pop-Up Blocker facilities.
It can save password using its Password Manager (Wand).
It has got built-in Download Manager.
It has got facilities to write Notes within the browser itself.
It can be identified as Opera, Mozilla and IE.

Due to such inbuilt features, lot many third party add-on need not to be downloaded, when Opera is used. It is seamlessly available on Linux, Mac, Windows and other platform.  Due to facility of changing the identification, it allows to surf Browser specific sites to show on the platforms where the particular Browser is not available. The size of the browser is also very small compare to others. One very special feature, which I like most, that while starting, it gives user choice to start with No Page; Home Page ; Continue where Last time and Start from the Saved sessions. This is very useful in the situation, when one is surfing multiple web-sites and gone deep inside the web-sites and next time want to start from that point onwards.

Hindi Language Files for OperaHindi Language Files for Opera

The snap-shot shown above is of Opera7.50 Technology Preview 3 with shared Qt library on Mandrakelinux 10.0. I have translated the Opera 7.23 for Linux and Window and submitted the same to Opera Translation Manager for reviewing and approval. Now the Hindi language files for Opera 7.23 for Linux and Window are available at Opera Official Web-site.

How to Install Hindi Language Files for Opera on Mandrakelinux

  • Choose the Hindi Language File for Opera from the link given above.
  • Save the file to Opera locale directory on your Mandrakelinux system which is by default found in '/usr/share/opera/locale/".
  • Select Preferences from (File Option for Opera 7.23 & Tools Option for Opera 7.50) from the Top-Menu.
  • Choose Language option from the left-side bar and within this select 'User Interface Language' option.
  • Select the Hindi Language file (lng file) downloaded and saved earlier in the '/usr/share/opera/locale/' directory.
  • Apply your choice.
  • Select Font option from the left-side bar and set fonts for all the options to 'Raghindi'
  • Apply your choice and restart Opera.

The Hindi display is on the Top Menu Bar and Sub-Menu Options is perfectly OK with proper rendering etc. whereas inside Hot-List, inside windows, on progress bar, preferences etc. it is coming with improper rendering. But then It is first time, it has been tested with Hindi on Linux. The bug has been submitted to Opera and the next versions will come with perfect Hindi language display on Linux platform also.  (On Window-XP, the Hindi display is perfectly O.K.)

In Mandrakelinux, the Opera is available as a Commercial RPM in the packs where commercial CD is included. Mandrakeclub users can also download this from Mandrake Club Web site depending upon their membership.
