Mandrakelinux Hindi
Localisation Project
The
Hindi
Localisation Project of Mandrakelinux is a program under its
Internationalisation Process. Due to this Internationalisation process,
today Mandrakelinux is available in 67 languages all over the world. Mr. Pablo Saratxaga is the
Co-ordinator of Mandrakelinux l18n Program. To know about this l18n
program of Mandrakelinux and to join this, there is mailing list named cooker-i18n@linux-mandrake.com. To
know more about this program, please visit this link at
Mandrakelinux.com.
Due to Mandrakelinux
Hindi
Localisation Project, now Hindi language is included and displayed
properly in Mandrakelinux 10.0 Official and Mandrakelinux 10.0
Community
Version onwards. The programs such as, The menu of Gnome & KDE,
Mandrake
Control Center, Menudrake, Localedrake etc. , are now displayed in
Hindi. There is great contribution of Gnome and KDE Hindi
Localisation, which are presently being done. At present, I am
the Co-ordinator of the Mandrakelinux Hindi
Localisation Project and so far around 11,000 strings were translated
by me from English to Hindi. I have also
done the
translation of Installation-Instruction
of Mandrakelinux from English to Hindi and and these are included in
the CDs and DVDs of
all the packs and in the Download ISOs. This can be find-out in
(../doc/install/hi) directory. This is available both in Text and HTML
form.
How-to Choose Hindi at
Mandrakelinux Installation Time.
Just One-Step during Installation time and the Mandrakelinux
10.0 will be Hindi-Enabled along with English. Choose Advanced option under the Language
Choice Screen and from this option, choose Hindi by tick-marking in
front of Hindi Box. Unicode
is automatically set too, as Hindi is only supported in unicode. Keep
default language and key-board as English. During Installation or after
installation, Install Yudit also. (To know about installation and use
of Yudit under Mandrakelinux, see the link
of this web-site.) After starting your session under Gnome or KDE, use
Localedrake to change environment from English-to-Hindi or
Hind-to-English. For both KDE and Gnome, change the default font to
RaghHindi. The Welcome-Message will be displayed properly in Hindi. I
personally give preference to Gnome as the Hindi Localisation
level is higher than KDE.
Welcome to Hindi World of
Mandrakelinux!
To discuss the qualities and
defects of this, join the Hindi Mailing-lists
of Mandrakelinux and share your suggestions, experiences and comments
with every-one.
